What is a Direct Cremation?

A cost effective and eco-friendly way of saying goodbye. The deceased is collected and taken to a mortuary where they are cared for until the cremation. The ashes can be scattered at a garden of remembrance or we can have them delivered to you so you can say goodbye in your own way and in your own time.  A Direct Cremation can save you money based on the average price of a traditional funeral. These savings can be used to celebrate the deceased life, give them a send off at a wake,woodland burial, or make a charity donation. The choice is yours.

How much do the Crystal Plans Cost?

Our funeral plans carry the ‘Crystal Clear Price Promise’. The price we agree with you is the price you pay, there are no hidden costs, offering you and your family peace of mind. The only time there may be additional charges will be for the removal of a pacemaker or other medical interventions. You will be advised of these charges when you purchase your plan.

Is my money safe and will it pay for the option selected when the need arises?

Some of the UK’s leading funeral providers use Trusts to secure customers funds to cover the cost of their chosen funeral plan. Crystal Funeral Plans consider the security of our customers funds a priority. Your money will be placed into a secure and independently managed Trust. When your funeral plan is needed the Trust simply requires an invoice, proof of death and authorisation from two trustees in order that funds are released.

We will provide you or your nominated representative with the information needed so they will know exactly what to do when the time comes.

Can I add additional services?

With our Direct Cremation plan there are no additional services offered. This is due to the unique nature of this particular service. However, if you would like additional services then take a look at our Crystal Celebration of Life Plan or our Traditional Funeral Plan.

Please note that some additional services can only be added at the time of need, such as collection of the deceased from a place other than a hospital, hospice or mortuary.

Can anyone attend the cremation?

There is no service with the Direct Cremation Plan. We created this plan to cater for the significant number of customers  who requested a ‘no fuss’ option.  Please take a look at the plan for further details. However, we have found that some customers would like the opportunity to attend a service which is why we created our Crystal Celebration of Life Plan and our  Traditional Plan

Can I choose where and when the cremation or burial takes place?

Not with the Direct Cremation Plan. We have gone to great lengths to carefully select reputable crematoriums around the country.  We select the crematorium that best suits the location of the deceased, combined with how you would like the ashes delivered.

However, with our Celebration of Life Plan and Traditional Plan you have the choice of crematoria.

We do not have a lot of money, If I choose a Crystal Direct Cremation will I be given the same level of care?

Every Crystal Cremation Plan includes a solid pine coffin.

Are there any hidden costs?

Our Funeral Plans are priced in an open and Crystal Clear way. Once you have paid your plan in full you can take comfort knowing that the burden has been taken away from your family.  The only additional fees are if a larger coffin is required or the deceased passes away in a place other than a hospital or care home.

If I choose the direct cremation plan can I choose where and when I scatter the ashes and say goodbye?

Yes. That is the benefit of our Crystal Direct Cremation, its entirely up to you it’s “your funeral, your way’ Once the cremation has taken place, we will fulfil your wishes by either delivering the ashes directly to you, or scatter them at a nominated garden of remembrance.

Do you provide an urn?

After the cremation takes place the ashes are placed into an eco friendly cremation box. The ashes are then transported to you so that you can choose how to say goodbye.  

The box is designed so that the ashes can easily be transferred to another container or URN.

I need a cremation now, how do I pay?

Contact the Crystal Funeral Planning Team. Payment can be made by either by bank transfer, credit card, cheque, or debit card.

What happens if Crystal Cremations go out of business?

If Crystal Cremations goes out of business the Trust will appoint a new provider and write to each plan holder to offer two options:

- Keep the plan active with the newly trust appointed provider 

- A refund 

The Trust holding client funds is managed by an independant board who's primary role is to guarantee and protect client funds
